World Environment Day 2026 will place climate change at the centre of the global environmental agenda, highlighting the urgent signals the planet is sending through rising temperatures, extreme weather events, melting glaciers and increasing pressure on ecosystems worldwide. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the 2026 campaign calls on governments, businesses, organisations and citizens to act decisively under the theme #NowForClimate, transforming awareness into collective action. Azerbaijan will host the global observance on 5 June 2026, while events and initiatives will take place across the world through conferences, campaigns, community activities and digital activations.
More than a symbolic international day, World Environment Day has become one of the world’s largest global platforms for environmental engagement and climate advocacy. The 2026 edition will spotlight both the urgency of the climate crisis and the growing momentum behind climate solutions already reshaping economies, cities and communities — from renewable energy and sustainable urban design to ecosystem restoration and climate resilience. Bringing together institutions, NGOs, businesses, activists and the wider public, the day aims to inspire global participation, strengthen environmental leadership and accelerate coordinated action towards a more sustainable future.
