World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is a United Nations event that promotes awareness towards the desertification of the Earth’s drylands. And it supports efforts to combat this.
Through the UNCCD, they aim to show how we can tackle desertification and drought. That there are solutions. And that cooperation and strong community efforts are the keys to achieving the goal.
The motto of this international day is “healthy land = healthy people”. And, the theme for 2025 is ‘Food. Feed. Fibre.’ Acting as a reminder that over-consumption can lead to desertification. And encouraging us all to help protect the planet.
