The launch event of the 2026 Europe report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change will take place on 22 April 2026, coinciding with Earth Day, in a hybrid format from Heidelberg (Germany), from 13:00 to 15:30. This flagship initiative analyses the impacts of climate change on health and provides an up-to-date overview of the main risks and responses across Europe.
The session will present the key findings of the report, alongside examples of measures implemented at national level in different European countries. Representatives from institutions such as the European Environment Agency, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Robert Koch Institute will share ongoing initiatives and policies at both EU and national levels.
The event will also feature a panel of policymakers and experts discussing best practices at the intersection of health and climate change, highlighting how to translate the latest scientific evidence into concrete actions and effective policies.
