Dissemination video to easily learn about technical aspects of the Germ of Life project to improve drought risk management and prevention. Manuela Balzarolo, senior scientist at the CMCC, one of the partners behind Germ of Life, explains in this video the indicators of meteorological drought, hydrological drought, agricultural drought, and socioeconomic drought.
She also explains how satellite imagery is used to determine Synoptic Coverage (wide area observation in minimal time); Temporal Consistency (long-term data collection for trend analysis); Multi-spectral Analysis (detection of stress indicators invisible to human eye) and Cost-effective Monitoring (reduced need for extensive ground surveys).
